HHNE (Hebrew High School of New England) is a unique educational institution dedicated to the academic, social, emotional, and spiritual growth of each and every one of our students. It's a place where each and every student is treated as an individual, encouraged to explore his or her strengths, and where everyone is considered an important part of the community.

HHNE is the only co-educational, Modern Orthodox, secondary Jewish Day School between New York and Boston, and we are open to young men and women from across the Jewish denominational spectrum.

The Hebrew High School of New England is a regional, Modern Orthodox, co-educational day school that provides college preparatory Judaic and general studies in an inclusive and supportive environment. Through our challenging program and individualized approach, we empower our students to think critically, behave ethically and embrace learning and Jewish tradition. We inspire the next generation of Jewish leaders, committed to Israel and to the betterment of our world.

The creation of the State of Israel is one of the seminal events in Jewish history. Recognizing the significance of the State and its national institutions, we seek to instill in our students an attachment to the State of Israel and its people as well as a sense of responsibility for their welfare.

In September of 1996, the new Hebrew High School of New England, under the leadership of Ann Pava as its first president, opened its doors to its first students. The Agudas Achim Synagogue building became its first home, and Rabbi Zvi Kahn, who had been appointed that spring, became its first principal. During that summer, its first faculty members were hired. Most importantly, eighteen eager students took their seats as ninth and tenth graders, the first beneficiaries of the dream their parents and others had worked so hard to shape.

Fifteen years have passed since that first momentous day, and the Hebrew High School of New England continues to pride itself on its great achievements. Supported by three Jewish Federations of Western Massachusetts, Hartford, and New Haven, it has become a model of a regional high school. Since its inception, the school has educated more than 200 students, many of whom have gone on to further study in Israel and have enrolled in prestigious colleges including McGill, MIT, University of Pennsylvania, Barnard College, NYU, Brandeis University, and Yeshiva University.

In January of 2011, the Hebrew High School of New England reached a new milestone, as the school moved onto its new $6.8m campus. The new campus, across from the Mandell JCC and the Weinberg Community Services Building, sits on 11 beautiful wooded acres adjacent to the University of Hartford.
