Academic Merit Scholarships

To further enhance our commitment to academic excellence, we offer academic merit scholarships for gifted incoming students. Prospective students who demonstrate exceptional promise and motivation are encouraged to apply for up to $2,000 in renewable academic merit scholarships. Merit scholarship awardees will typically match the following profile:

  • “A” average for grades 7 and 8.
  • Strong math and writing skills as demonstrated on HHNE’s admission tests.
  • Compelling recommendations from teachers and administration.
  • Completion of a scholarship application, including an essay.

The scholarship award will be between $1,000 and $2,000 per year, and may be renewed annually based on HHNE grades and faculty recommendation.   Apply Now


Community Leader Scholarships

Students with a parent or guardian who serves as a Jewish community leader are eligible for subsidies. Children of community leaders will receive a scholarship of up to $4,000 per year.  The full scholarship will be granted to active lay leaders (e.g., presidents) and full-time top professional leaders (e.g., executive directors, rabbis, heads of school, etc.) of the Jewish Federations of Greater Hartford, Greater New Haven and Western Massachusetts; the Jewish Community Foundation of Greater Hartford, the Jewish Foundation of Greater New Haven, and the Jewish Endowment Foundation of Western Massachusetts; beneficiary agencies of the three Federations; and all synagogues in the three Federations’ catchment areas. In addition, all active board members and professional staff in these organizations will receive a $1,000 annual scholarship. These scholarships will be renewable contingent on continued active board involvement and/or employment in the Jewish agencies.  Apply Now
