Elie Wolfe


Elie Wolfe, from West Hartford, Connecticut, graduated from HHNE in 2002.  Elie then studied in Israel for a year, attended Yeshiva University with concentrations in physics and mathematics, and eventually pursued graduate studies in physics at the University of Connecticut, achieving his Ph.D. in 2014. He recently accepted a postdoctoral research fellowship at the Perimeter Institute for Theoretical Physics in Waterloo, Canada.  Elie’s postdoctoral research focus is the study of Quantum Foundations.Elie married Eliora Ashkenas in 2005, and they have two children – Noam and Eitan. Elie and his family currently live in Kitchener, Ontario, Canada.  “Hebrew High’s uniquely attentive environment allowed me to thrive as an individual and enabled me to explore my values in a diverse community of supportive peers and educators. I largely credit my career in physics to incredible encouragement from my physics teacher, Dr. Patrick Lee.”

Shaun Gruenbaum


Shaun Gruenbaum graduated from HHNE in 1999. Shaun finished his residency in Anesthesiology at the Yale University School of Medicine in 2013, and he is currently completing a Research Fellowship (the Yale Research Scholars Program) and a Clinical Fellowship in Neurosurgical Anesthesiology. He is also getting a Ph.D. in Investigative Medicine at Yale University.
Shaun has three children with his wife (Sarit, HHNE class of 2001). They recently celebrated their 10th wedding anniversary.
