Dear parents of students who have expressed interest in playing soccer,
We are looking forward to the start of our 2012 soccer season this fall. Here is what we have planned so far:
a) Amanda Hughes is returning as our girls’ coach for a second year. We had an excellent year last year and it is always good to be able to maintain consistency with our coaches from year to year.
b) We are planning to have practice 3 times a week this year. Practice days will be Tuesday and Thursday after school, and Sunday morning. The practice times will be:
Tuesday – 4:45-6:45
Thursday – 5:00-7:00
Sunday – 10:00-12:00
c) In truth, for much of the season we will only have practice twice a week. This is because the holidays this year fall out on Monday and Tuesday. Therefore, from the third week of September through the second week of October practice will only be held on Sunday and Thursday. In addition, as we get later into the season, and sunset gets earlier and earlier, we may not have enough time to run after school practices on Tuesdays and Thursdays. A decision will be made regarding this issue at that time.
d) The girls will practice most of the time at HHNE and, perhaps, occasionally at Hebrew Academy. Most information on exactly where they’ll practice will be forthcoming as it becomes available.
e) There are 6 games scheduled for the upcoming season. They are:
1) Monday, September 24th at Choate Rosemary Hall – 333 Christian St. Wallingford, CT 06492

2) Wednesday, October 3rd at The Hotchkiss School – 11 Interlaken Rd., Lakeville, CT 06039

4) Monday, October 22nd at Loomis Chaffee – 4 Batchelder Rd., Windsor, CT 06095
Game Time – 4:15pm
5) Wednesday, October 31st at Taft School – 110 Woodbury Rd., Watertown, CT 06795
Game Time – 4:00pm
6) Wednesday, November 7th at Miss Porter’s School – 60 Main St., Farmington, CT 06032
Game Time – 3:00pm
f) Like last year, we are going to begin practices before the school year begins. Out target date for beginning practices is Sunday, August 19th at 10:00am. We understand that some of our players may not be available to attend some or all of these before school practices, but all players who are available are expected to be there. Following our pattern from last year, we will run practices on Sunday the 19th, Tuesday, the 21st, Sunday, the 26th and Tuesday, the 28th. Sunday practices will run from 10:00-12:00 and Tuesday practices will run from 5:00-7:00. These practices will take place at HHNE.
Please remember that there may be unexpected changes to our plans and unforeseen conflicts also may arise. When the coach is not able to communicate changes in scheduling directly at practice, she and the players will communicate by phone or, more likely, by email. The school will send emails to update you on any changes when we become aware of them.
g) Permission slips for soccer are going home today. Please make sure they are returned together with the fee of $65.00 by Monday, June 18th.
